15-year-old calls out his mom for constantly critiquing his haircuts: 'She started crying and turned up the music in the car'

Sometimes the biggest fights happen for the smallest reasons. 

You know this if you've ever had an interpersonal relationship with anyone. You don't usually have a blowout fight over something big. Usually, something small sets it off. Maybe you've been mounting resentment for years, and you've never said it out loud. Then suddenly the small things start adding up, and they become a lot bigger in your mind. Then one day, it all just comes tumbling loose. Maybe it started because someone forgot to unload the dishwasher. But you bet your bottom dollar it did not end there. This is how people operate, especially people who are afraid of conflict. You wait until it's inevitable, and then you hash it all out. That's what happened to this teenager and his mom in a story shared to the AITAH subreddit. When you're a teenager, you're probably clashing with your parents quite a bit. You're finding your own sense of independence, and you're not waiting for the people around you to be ready for your adulthood. You feel like nobody understands you, and everyone is out to get you, even when they're really just trying to have your back. You might find yourself raging against all forms of authority, especially at home. That's what was happening here, between a teenager and his mother.

  • Hair is an incredibly personal and incredibly important thing. It's often the first thing that people notice about us. Parents can also get strangely protective of their child's hair. I mean, if you're the one paying for the haircuts, then you probably should get some say over how they look.
